Launch of the 2nd annual NextGen Innovation Award: We’re looking for problem solvers!

Homelessness in New York City is on the rise, and COVID-19's impact on the crisis will continue long after the pandemic ends. The entire social services sector, from how we shelter people without a home to how we safely run free meal programs, needs to be re-envisioned. Creative solutions have never been more important.

We’re looking for problem solvers to share creative approaches to homelessness for the 2nd annual NextGen Innovation Award.

Last year, NCS launched the NextGen Innovation Award to stimulate and encourage creative solutions to the challenges of homelessness. The inaugural $5,000 award was presented to the Streetlives team.

This May, with the help of the Award, they were able to launch GoGetta, a “Yelp” for social services that empowers those in need of services to find what they need and share what they know. The timing of this launch was critical in helping people find services at a time when travel wasn’t safe and service hours and offerings were impacted by the pandemic. You can read more about the work they’re doing during COVID to help those in need of services.
