On Neighbors Helping Neighbors Day (October 10th), we’re rallying our community to make a tangible impact on the lives of New Yorkers facing homelessness. Our goal? Raise $10,000 to provide housing and critical services to those in need.
M was studying Computer Science at Medgar Evers College, but when his dad suddenly announced he was moving, M wasn’t sure where he would live next. He was worried he would have to leave school if he didn’t have a stable place to stay.
How Can You Help?
We’re asking 100 dedicated neighbors like you to start peer-to-peer fundraisers and raise $100 (or more) to help us reach our goal before Neighbors Helping Neighbors Day! Don’t worry, we’ll provide everything you need to succeed!
What $10,000 Will Accomplish:
During the pandemic, Bre worked tirelessly as a Nursing Assistant and discovered her dream of going to school to become a Registered Nurse. However shortly after beginning her studies, Bre lost her housing and nearly had to drop out of school. Thankfully NCS Scholars was there to provide Bre with a safe and stable place to live and continue her education. Now Bre is on track to graduate this Spring!
Clients at the NCS Residence enjoy a special Bingo event with NCS Board Members, Susan Shevell and Jan Golann, as well as NCS Chief Executive Officer, Ann Shalof.
Safe Housing: Secure stable living environments for New Yorkers facing homelessness, including young adults aging out of foster care, those who have experienced chronic homelessness, and college students working toward their degree.
Comprehensive Support: Fund essential services like job training, mental health counseling, and substance abuse treatment.
Empowerment: Help our neighbors rebuild their lives with dignity and hope.

Before coming to the NCS Residence, many of our clients were facing chronic homelessness. With access to a private bedroom and communal spaces to enjoy meals and activities, along with personalized case management and supportive services, we help our NCS residents find comfort and stability.

In 2018, while living in an NYC shelter and struggling with addiction, Donna’s case manager at the time referred her to NCS’s Chance for Change program. Not long after, Donna moved into the NCS Residence and began working with Options to plan for the future and return to work. Later that year, Donna started working at Old Navy. Now, two years and two promotions later, Donna is one of the top sales associates in her region, which even earned her a $1,000 bonus!

Growing up in the foster care system was not easy, but when TiAsia was 20 she moved into Louis Nine House and found stability. This security allowed her to reconnect with her passion for fashion and begin to dream about her future. NCS Options connected TiAsia with one of our community partners, Custom Collaborative, to complete their fashion design training program for low- to no-income and immigrant women; which even led to one of her designs being featured in Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar!
