Your Personal Fundraiser for NCS

Thank you so much for starting a fundraiser in honor of NCS for Neighbors Helping Neighbors Day!

We want to make this process as easy as possible for you. This toolkit has everything you need to run a successful fundraising campaign.

Neighbors Helping Neighbors Day is on October 10th. While your fundraiser can continue beyond this date, our goal is to reach our fundraising target by October 10th. We appreciate your dedication to helping us achieve this milestone.

Setting up your fundraiser:

Personalize your page with:

  1. a photo

  2. a note to your page visitors (here is some suggested language but you can edit it however you want to make it your own—it’s best when it sounds like you!)

  3. a goal: Choose a realistic and inspiring fundraising goal. Think about what will motivate your network to donate—every dollar makes a difference!

Outreach:

Outreach is a critical component of your fundraising campaign. Make sure that your friends, family, and contacts know about your campaign and why you are inviting them to support NCS. This is the best way to motivate them to make a gift!

Please reach out to your contacts when and where you feel most comfortable. Consider the following outreach strategies that have worked for other people:

Final Tips for Success:

  1.  Donate: Personal fundraising campaigns are much more successful when the fundraiser makes the first donation. This demonstrates to your contacts that you’re not only asking them to support NCS, but that you are also a supporter.

  2. Follow Up: Remember, people often need multiple reminders before taking action. Don’t hesitate to follow up with potential donors who haven’t responded to your initial outreach.

  3. Say Thanks: Always thank your campaign supporters and keep them updated on your campaign’s progress.

Thank you for your commitment to NCS and for supporting Neighbors Helping Neighbors Day this year!

Your efforts are instrumental in helping us provide vital services to our neighbors facing homelessness, all year long.

We’re here to support you every step of this process—please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions (Rebecca Kabat, she/her/hers, 212-537-5142, rkabat@ncsinc.org

WORDING FOR FUNDRAISING PAGE

Join me in supporting NCS in honor of Neighbors Helping Neighbors Day. For more than 40 years, NCS has been guided by the principle that the entire community is responsible for our neighbors facing homelessness.

Help me reach my goal of raising [FILL IN YOUR GOAL] to provide:

Safe Housing: A secure stable home for New Yorkers facing homelessness, including young adults aging out of foster care, those who have experienced chronic homelessness, and college students working toward their degree.

Comprehensive Support: Essential services like job training, mental health counseling, and substance abuse treatment.

Empowerment: Help our neighbors rebuild their lives with dignity and hope.

This Neighbors Helping Neighbors Day, let's help our neighbors!
