Robert Yancey at College Food Security Summit

NCS Chief Program Officer Robert Yancey was a featured speaker at the first ever 2023 College Food Security Summit hosted by Medgar-Evers Transition Academy and Food Bank for New York City.

The event took place on October 18th, 2023, and brought together leaders in various sectors in support of food security for all and eliminating college hunger.

In addition to NCS’s Yancey, other speakers included: Dr. Patricia Ramsey, President of Medgar Evers College, CUNY, Leslie Gordon, President and CEO of Food Bank for New York City, Christopher Tricarico, Senior Executive Director of the NYC Department of Education’s Office of Food and Nutrition Services, and Dr. Nicholas Freudenberg, Director at the CUNY Urban Food Policy Institute.

The panel discussions and activities involving government, academic, and community partners, centered around the collaboration and innovation required to bring about a future without food insecurity. Everyone left the day having pledged to do their part to support the enaction of legislative and social change around college hunger, while having made valuable network connections as a community.
