Mary Athridge: A Neighbor Who Helps Neighbors
NCS was founded on the belief that neighbors should help neighbors. Mary exemplifies that ideal.
Mary used to live right around the corner from the NCS Residence and clients would often stop to talk to her when she walked her dog, Bailey. She quickly connected with many of them and wanted to help. She decided to start a monthly donation to NCS to help give her neighbors the supportive services they needed.
Mary valued her connection to NCS so much that she even continued donating after she lost her job when the COVID-19 pandemic started.
“Not all folks have the safety net that I have,” Mary shared. “It’s important to me to keep donating to NCS to help my former neighbors. People have had the ground fall out from under them with no safety net. I’m lucky that I have one. Not being employed right now really puts things into perspective. And I feel good about what I’m putting out into the world.”
NCS can provide the level of service we do because of the support of our donors. We appreciate the good that Mary, and all of our supporters, are putting into the world by giving to NCS. Thank you!
