Monique
“I migrated here from Jamaica in 2006 and started working at the NCS Residence. It was my first time working with a vulnerable population, and I learned a lot. I left NCS briefly and was working with a street outreach team. I became passionate about working with the homeless population. When I had the chance to work with the younger population at Louis Nine House, I came back to NCS. At the time, my daughter was almost a teenager and so I think working with the tenants at LNH helped me as a mother and being a mother helped me to nurture our clients. They mostly come from foster care and many have trauma in their background. They look up to us every day. It inspires me and I hope to keep working with this homeless and formerly homeless population for the rest of my career. I love my job and what we do here at NCS.”
