Help Feed Your Hungry Neighbors

Give the gift of a hearty snack, a warm meal, and all the good feelings that come with knowing someone cared enough to send you food.

Every $5 provides a nourishing meal for a neighbor facing food insecurity this holiday season.

Across New York, hunger is a painful and pressing reality. According to the New York State Department of Health, 1 in 4 adults experiences food insecurity, often wondering where their next meal will come from. Food insecurity doesn’t just mean a skipped meal – it’s a constant threat to physical and mental well-being, a daily burden that can lead to severe long term health implications.

For those experiencing homelessness or housing instability, this burden is even greater.

Those facing food insecurity are significantly more likely to develop conditions such as hypertension, heart disease, diabetes, mental illness, and more, many of which are among the ten leading causes of death in the United States, according to the CDC.

“Hunger stresses the body and mind, and can result in malnutrition, inability to concentrate, anxiety, and depression.”

Dr. James McDonald, NY State Health Commissioner

At Neighborhood Coalition for Shelter (NCS), we don’t just provide a stable home – we work hard to provide our clients with all the supportive services they need, one of the most important being access to consistent nourishing meals.

Your Support Matters

Each meal we serve at NCS means more than nourishment. It means relief for someone going through hardship and a step forward toward stability. It’s a chance to focus on health, connect with a supportive community, and regain hope. For our neighbors transitioning from homelessness, a nutritious meal can be the foundation for healing and growth.
