Creating a personal fundraising page where you can set your own fundraising goal, keep track of how much you’ve raised, and share videos, photos, and stories about why you support NCS is easy and takes less than three minutes!

Want to set up a fundraising page but not sure how to answer why you are passionate about NCS? Here are a few ideas:

Sample 1: Neighborhood Coalition for Shelter provides New Yorkers who are homeless or at risk of homelessness with a home, a community, and access to the services that they need to thrive. They were founded by a coalition of neighborhood organizations who believed that homelessness is the responsibility of the entire community. Nearly 40 years later, they are still guided by the principle that neighbors should help neighbors.

Sample 2: Initially, I was drawn to NCS by the feeling that I needed to do more but I heard that it wasn’t a good idea to give money directly to people on the street.

Overtime, as I’ve met some of the people who NCS serves, my reasons for staying involved have deepened.  I’ve come to know some of the residents and have seen the hardships they’ve confronted.

Most important, I’ve see the difference that non-judgmental support can have on the lives of people under NCS’s care. NCS is so important to me because it has a profoundly positive impact on the lives of homeless people and on our community.  NCS makes New York City a better place.

Sample 3: Neighborhood Coalition for Shelter believes in giving people a chance to succeed. Their supportive housing program in the Bronx is home to 46 young adults who have aged out of foster care or experienced homelessness. Many of them have a deep drive to succeed but it’s difficult to finish school when you don’t know where you’re gonna sleep at night. That’s where NCS comes in. I’ve read stories about so many of their clients who were able to graduate because they finally had a stable home and the supportive services they need. They had help with applications, interviews, and were set up for success. So many of us had this help in our lives and I believe so strongly in supporting an organization that’s providing that for those who don’t have it.

  • Spread the word on Facebook by creating your own personal fundraiser in honor of your birthday or just because. It takes a minute to set up and you can invite your Facebook friends to donate, share the fundraiser on your wall, and send the link to others via text and email. Facebook doesn’t take a cut of the donations, so 100% of what you raise goes straight to our clients.
