How it Works

1. Click here to begin setting up a Facebook fundraiser supporting Neighborhood Coalition for Shelter. 100% of the funds you raise will be used to support homeless and at-risk New Yorkers on their journey toward independence.

2. Enter a goal for the fundraiser: the amount of funds you hope to raise. Most people start with a goal of $250.

3. Enter the date you would like the fundraiser to end. This is usually a few days to a week after your birthday.

4. There is pre-filled language for why you are choosing to fundraise for NCS, but you can always edit it if you would like to add a personal story.

5. You have the option to change the cover photo if you’d like.

6. Hit the create button! Congratulations! You’ve created your birthday fundraiser.

7. Want to raise more for your birthday? Offer to match any donations that come in. Don't worry, you can set a limit.

8. Your friends will be notified you set up a fundraiser for your birthday but you can also invite friends to donate and share the fundraiser to your wall, helping more people to see it and hopefully support NCS.
