Avi and Passover

Avi, a tenant at the NCS Residence for approximately 15 years, loves Passover. It’s his favorite holiday!

He recently explained why he relates to the Passover story on a personal level.

“There were 10 plagues in Egypt and each one got worse and worse but Pharoh didn’t want to free his Jewish slaves,” Avi shared.  “After the tenth plague, he changed his mind and let them go. It’s like hitting rock bottom. We all have things we need to change and sometimes we have to hit rock bottom first. Then the Jews left Egypt but they came to the Sea and were stuck. But they had faith and jumped in and it split for them. Sometimes in order to be really free, we need to take a leap of faith that it will work out and it will get better.”

In 2017 Avi led a Passover seder at the NCS Residence. The highlight for him was being able to share the story and some of the rituals with his fellow residents and with the staff. They enjoyed matzah ball soup and other traditional Passover foods. “It was great that the whole community came to celebrate with me!”

Happy Passover to all who celebrate.
