Position: Data Analyst and IT Support Specialist

Classification: Full-time, Exempt

Reports to: Director of Information Technology

Work location: Onsite – All Neighborhood Coalition for Shelter NYC Sites

Neighborhood Coalition for Shelter (NCS) helps New Yorkers who have a history of homelessness, often compounded by mental illness or substance use, to achieve their highest level of independence. We were established in 1982 by faith and community leaders on Manhattan’s Upper East Side who believed that homelessness is the responsibility of the entire community. More than 40 years later, we are still guided by the principle that neighbors should help neighbors.

Today, NCS offers an array of groundbreaking housing and supportive services, including counseling, substance use treatment, vocational and educational programs, and employment support, and we are poised for further growth.

NCS provides New Yorkers who are homeless or at risk of homelessness with a home, a community, and access to the services that they need to thrive.

POSITION SUMMARY:

As the in-house/on-site support to the Director of IT, the Data Analyst and Information Technology Support Specialist will play a crucial role in producing timely program reports for NCS’ managers and funders, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and usability of data stored on the Homelessness Management Information System (HMIS), the database used by member agencies in the community. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the organization’s New York City locations to extract valuable insights, generate reports, and drive informed decision-making. You will also have helpdesk duties and will assist the Director of IT in maintaining technology resources for the organization. Most of your work will be in the field at an NCS location.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee timely, accurate uploads to the HMIS.

  • Liaise with Chief Program Officer (CPO) and Program Directors on timely and accurate data entry for program processes and outcomes.

  • Work with Chief Program Officer (CPO) and Program Directors to develop and sustain monthly, quarterly, and annual program reports consistent with funder and management needs.

  • Consult with program management, develop and sustain monthly program dashboards highlighting key performance indicators.

  • Sustain system knowledge of Managed Care Medicaid and 3rd party billing software.

  • Support fundraising, accounting, outcomes productivity and other software, and database needs of the organization.

  • Provide ongoing support and training for staff on database and systems as needed

  • Add new users and train staff on voice/data systems, and security protocols.

  • Assist the Director of IT in monitoring and maintaining various IT systems.

  • Identify and troubleshoot IT issues.

  • Maintain hardware and software inventory, and work with managers on deciding on new needs.

  • Retire and replace obsolete and broken technology.

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to and passion for NCS’s mission.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, capable of collaborating with cross-functional teams and NCS leadership.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate complex ideas to diverse audiences.

  • A customer-centric mindset with a focus supporting user experience.

  • Minimum of 3 years’ data, and network experience; working knowledge of HMIS a plus.

  • Deep knowledge of Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office; prior experience with Foothold Technology’s AWARDS application preferred.

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field required, relevant nonprofit experience preferred.

SALARY RANGE: $50,000 - $60,000

Final salary will be determined based on various factors which may include internal equity, work experience, skills, knowledge, and/or education and/or certifications.
