Part-Time Social Worker

ABOUT THE PROGRAM: The Community Human Services Information and Referral Program (CHIRP) reaches individuals that may be in need of services, but that are disconnected from them. CHIRP has a presence at five free meal programs on the East Side of Manhattan to provide guests with information and referrals for shelter and housing, public assistance, counseling, mental health and substance use treatment, and a variety of other services available in the area and the City.
REPORTS TO: Chief Program Officer
BASIC FUNCTION: Provide social work services for mobile information, referral, and case management program for low-income, homeless and at-risk households utilizing community meal programs on Manhattan’s Upper East Side.
HOURS: Monday to Friday - approximately 10 hours a week
Provide information and referrals for individuals attending meal programs at Upper East Side churches and synagogues
Maintain access to current information on community resources
Maintain statistics and provide written program reports as necessary
Travel to various locations in Manhattan
Other duties as assigned
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or a related field, Master’s Degree in Social Work preferred.
Prior experience in social service environment, particularly working homeless/formerly homeless, mentally ill and/or chemically addicted individuals.
Knowledge of community resources preferred.
Strong time management skills.
Knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
Strong English language written and verbal communication skills; Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
