Facility Superintendent/Handyman

BASIC FUNCTION: The Facility Superintendent/Handyman at the NCS Residence is responsible for maintaining the overall cleanliness and maintenance of the facility and equipment in accordance with fire, sanitation, and health department regulations.


  • Ordering, maintaining, and receiving shipments of cleaning and household supplies using the NCS purchase order system and submitting invoices to the Facility Manager

  • Ensuring a clean and sanitary environment for clients and staff

  • Making repairs

  • Facilitating in-kind donation drop-offs

  • Maintaining the Fire Safety Checklist and the Fire Drill log according to DHS standards

  • Conducting regular fire drills and training all staff in fire extinguisher use

  • Being on call 24 hours for all building related emergencies

  • Coordinating all aspects of trash removal

  • Providing support to staff at all levels to ensure quality service provision

  • Performing other duties as assigned



  • High School diploma

  • Prior experience as a superintendent

  • Supervisory skills and the ability to work with the homeless

  • Prior knowledge of Fire Standards is preferable
